So you want to learn how to skate? You've come to the right place. All classes are conducted at The Pond of Norwood

The Mini-Crystals Figure Skating program will teach you all the fundamentals of figure skating. This program, designed by the US Figure Skating Association, is the best beginning figure skating program anywhere – it’s fun, challenging and rewarding.

Students will be tested on skills learned.  Students will learn the correct technique of figure skating, while developing a finer degree of coordination and balance.  All class instructors are well-trained professional figure skating coaches. All participants will need to join the United States Figure Skating Association “USFSA” for an annual fee of $7.50.

ATTIRE:  Skaters will be required to wear the Mini Crystals Skating Dress, skating tights or sweatpants, turtleneck with a sweatshirt, fleece jacket or vest. Dress in layers with clothing that is suitable for exercise (no winter jackets or jeans).
OTHER EQUIPMENT NEEDED:  All children under 6 are required to wear a bike or hockey helmet.  Your skater will also need gloves, a towel for drying blades, skate guards and skate soakers or socks.
FIGURE SKATES:   It is very important to start with a good pair of figure skates.  A high quality pair of figure skates is a good investment in your child’s skating.  We can recommend some local figure skating stores and brands you should consider buying.

The curriculum is designed to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning from the time they begin lessons until the time they reach their goals. Whether your goal is to achieve Olympic fame or simply enjoy the recreational benefits of skating, Basic Skills is for you!
